Baby Daphne is here!

Daphne Mae was born on her due date, 8-10-10, at 1:06am via unplanned c-section (after 25 hours of labor). She is a big girl, weighing in at 8lbs 14oz and 21 inches long!
We spent 4 days in the hospital and are now settling in at home. Baby is doing great, Sarah is slowly recovering from surgery, Jesse has quickly become a great dad, and Raisin is loving her little "sister."
We are still finding it hard to believe that we are now parents. It's a strange feeling, but we are so in love with our little girl and are getting to know her more every day.

ummm, It's August

When the heck did that happen?!?! Tomorrow will be 39 weeks - ONE WEEK until our due date. Our little girl will be here any day now....ready or not!

Finishing touch on the nursery...

Jesse and I just ordered the final piece of the nursery for baby Daphne. I can't wait for them to get here so I can put them on the wall! Since I am sure we will spend a lot of time there, they will likely hang over the changing table so she has something "educational" to look at.

People are saying I "dropped".....

I just think I am HUGE!

Week 35:

Baby's now the size of a honeydew!
From now on, baby's growth is mostly in the plumping up department -- though he won't get much longer, he'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth. (He's about 15 percent right now and will be about 30 percent by full-term.) His hearing is totally developed (tip: baby responds best to higher pitches).

Baby news...

So I guess it's been a while since I posted anything baby related. Things are going well. I am now 33 weeks pregnant! Holy cow! I also realized that we will be full term (37 weeks) exactly on my birthday. So, that's exciting. At my last appointment, the midwife said she was "pretty sure" the baby is head down already, but didn't know for sure because the location of her heartbeat was more consistent with a breech presentation. After my next appointment (on Friday), if they can't tell for sure what position she is in, they will be scheduling an ultrasound to find out. Also, we only have one more "every two weeks" appointment after this Friday, then we go weekly! Sometimes I can't believe I have been pregnant for almost 8 months, other times I feel like it has completely flown by.

In other (by still related) news, Jesse and I are interviewing a pediatrician on July 8th. I am fairly certain we will be going with this practice, so this appointment should be more of a "meet and greet." They come highly recommended and I really like that they seem to be fairly flexible with baby vaccines. Additionally, they do not use any local hospitals (Lawrence General - yuck!) and send all of their patients to Children's in Boston, which I consider to be a huge PLUS.

Work on the nursery has been moving along, too. Last weekend we took some time to organize the 3rd floor, now guest room. It looks great and I feel good knowing that we have a place people can sleep. We finished the letters we are hanging over the baby's crib and they look great. Seeing it all come together is sort of surreal. It boggles my mind that we are going to have a BABY in our place in 4-7 weeks. NUTS!

As for me....getting bigger (believe it or not) and more and more uncomfortable. Last weekend was my first time really out in the heat/humidity (with no AC for an escape) and it was rough. I am more thankful for our central air than ever before! Also, I started having the Braxton Hicks (practice) contractions. Let me tell you, that is weird. My pelvic bone pain is getting worse, especially at night, in addition to the back pain that is almost constant. Jesse has also informed me that I now "snore like a trucker," or something like that. Sorry! I suppose it's all for a good cause :-)

My first baby shower is this weekend. I am really excited! This is the "family" shower and it being held at the Andover Country Club. I can't wait to see all the loot our little baby is going to get! I was finally able to find a dress last night, so I am all ready to go.

I leave you with some pictures...

Holy crap! I am huge!!!

Week 33:

Baby's now the size of a honeydew!
Things are heating up inside as well: Baby may grow up to a full inch this week alone, and his brain is developing like crazy. Pretty soon, he'll be able to coordinate breathing with sucking and swallowing. Also, his bones are hardening, and he's started to keep his eyes open when he's awake.

Some pictures of the nursery with the newly finished wall letters! :-)

What's going on

So much :)

Sarah and I got married on May 25th, 2010! We decided to go ahead and just get married for a few reasons, we want Daphne to have married parents, just a personal choice of ours; and a much more mundane reason - the company I work for changed owners, and we wanted to make sure that our health insurance still covered both of us. We are still planning on having the "real" wedding a couple of years in the future like we were originally going to, and everybody will be invited.

We also went on vacation with 10 good friends to the Outer Banks in North Carolina! It was a blast. The house we rented was large and comfortable, and right on the ocean. Every day we could wake up and walk right down to the ocean to catch some sun and surf. Then we usually returned to the pool by the house to relax and have some drinks, then dinner in or out. If anybody wants some recommendations for a rental company in NC, Midgett Realty is the company we used and they were decent and friendly.

Baby Daphne is due soon, and Sarah is really starting to show it. She is a very good looking pregnant woman even if she won't admit it. She also just changed her last name, so we're just getting used to that, it's a little strange even from my perspective, that the woman I've been with for the past few years has my last name now, crazy! hehe.

Didn't realize how pregnant I was...

I nearly had a heart attack yesterday, when I sat down and looked at some of my belly pictures.
